We rose today to begin our last working day in Mellier. Today will pretty much mirror yesterday with the task of filtering our own water and moving the generator from the schoolhouse to outside early in the morning. Another great meal served by the kitchen staff. I’m not sure how they make such great food in the conditions they have but it is very much appreciated. We prepared buckets and distributed 33 water filters for the final day and split up lunch today to spend time with the school children. Today we handed out crackers, water, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a tootsie pop to all 102 children. A great big thank you to Haslet Family Dentistry for the toothbrushes and toothpaste. The children were very wise to move to another seat after receiving a snack in an attempt to receive another. 
In the afternoon we went to make house visits and a few community members asked how they could be included. There is so much more work to be done here. Scott decided to get a haircut in Mellier and Francisco touched every hair on his head twice over 40 minutes for $1.00. Patrick, our translator, stood over his shoulder to be sure Scott looked good when for he goes back to Texas!
The best part of our day, besides breaking bread with our Mellier friends, was the birth of Patrick’s son, Aaron Elisha Keith Alziphat, born today (October 21) at 6:55 ET. Bruce and Daniel won the baby pools for time and weight and donated the money to Patrick for diapers. Cheers were heard throughout the church! As we end our time in Mellier, we are most grateful for the opportunity to do the work we have done and the friends we have made!
